Lynn received a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, a certificate in dental hygiene from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and a Master of Education from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
Lynn has over 25 years of experience as a clinical dental hygienist and over 15 years as a dental hygiene educator. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics, Dental Hygiene Division at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). She is course director for Introduction to Clinical Theory, PreClinical Dental Hygiene, Clinic I and Clinic I Seminar. As the Junior Year Clinic Coordinator, Lynn is responsible for the clinical experience of students in their first semester of patient care.
In addition to her teaching activities, Lynn has presented continuing education courses provided by the UTHSCSA School of Dentistry Continuing Education Department. Most recently at the UTHSCSA Dental Hygiene Educators Workshop, Lynn presented a course on current concepts in competency-based dental hygiene education to an audience of dental hygiene educators. As an invited speaker at the RDH Under One Roof conference in Chicago in August 2014, she presented a course on effective instrument sharpening to an audience of practicing dental hygienists.
Lynn’s areas of expertise are fundamentals of periodontal instrumentation, infection control protocols, tobacco cessation and the use of dental materials by the dental hygienist. She also provides certification training courses to dental assistants in the application of pit and fissure sealants and coronal polishing.
In partnership with Tina Stein, Lynn is owner of a continuing education enterprise, Professional Dental Continuing Education.
Tina Stein, RDH, BSDH
Tina received her certificate in dental hygiene from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in May 1979. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2002 at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Tina has been a dental hygienist for 35 years and a dental hygiene educator for 15 years. Tina is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics, Dental Hygiene Division at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry. She is the course director for Clinic II, Clinic II Seminar, Clinic III, and Clinic III Seminar. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she directs all aspects of the clinical experience of students in their 3rd and 4th semesters of their dental hygiene education.
In August 2007 Tina assumed the role of Director of Continuing Education for the Department of Dental Hygiene. Her interests lie in utilizing her thirty years of clinical practice experience in the development of clinical course work for dental hygienists and dental assistants. She helped develop Texas State Board courses for Certification of Pit and Fissure Sealants and certification courses for dental assistants in Radiology, Infection Control and Jurisprudence. Tina helped develop a refresher course for dental hygienists wishing to reinstate their licenses and re-enter the work force.
Tina has had two articles published on the Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants and two articles published on Oral Piercing.
Tina is a member of the Sigma Phi Alpha Society, Alpha Eta Society, and the Academy of American Dental Hygiene. She was also the recipient of the Teacher Excellence Award in 2010-2011 awarded by the Texas Dental Director’s Association and Proctor and Gamble.
